This is an educational seminar for the dog owner interested in enhancing your dog's health, life and the bond between you and your pet.
You will learn the basic strokes of canine/feline massage and the sequence to use these strokes.
Why should you learn massage therapy for your pet?
While all animals would benefit from a little extra petting, some need the touch and manipulation of muscles and soft tissue to stimulate healing, relaxation and rejuvenation. Our pets age more quickly than we do and experience aging sooner than you might expect the same aches and pains we all live with as we get older. If your pet has struggled with chronic pain, illness or is simply getting old and suffering from the aches and pains of age, you can learn how to rub his or her muscles in such a way as to increase flexibility, reduce swelling, decrease pain and to stimulate his body’s natural ability to heal itself. Massage relieves pain and discomfort naturally by releasing the naturally produced chemicals (endorphins) into the body. If you have ever experienced a massage or had the "kinks" worked out by a licensed massage therapist, then you know that the greatest benefit is gained from making massage a part of your health routine. In this workshop, you will learn professional massage strokes and a basic sequence to massage your pet in your own home giving them the benefits from regular massage sessions. Many older animals who could no longer jump onto the couch or climb stairs have found their abilities restored because of the benefits of massage. Now you can learn how to use your cuddling and together time for petting with a purpose through massage therapy. A specific blend of aromatherapy oils will be used in this class . The massage techniques discussed in this class can be applied to most animals, however only our canine companions who get along well with others and have good manners should attend. Class size is limited. Only well-behaved, leashed canines. Please only one dog per participant! Those with kitties, please bring in a stuffed animal, or your favorite well manner doggy as a substitute please. Proof of your pet's current vaccinations required upon registration and can be sent with your registration and payment. It is advised to bring a yoga mat or beach towel to lay your dog on and for you to kneel on. We will be working on the floor. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
